Phil Cannella Gets an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corp – Phil Cannella Media

Phil Cannella – Phillip Cannella Media: Phil Cannella’s life prior to becoming a financial professional is a very colorful and interesting one. Certainly nothing in his childhood could even remotely be classified as dull or mundane. Growing up as one of 5 kids, and being the oldest son, Phil Cannella started early in his life in the role of a protector of those younger or weaker.

Furthermore, Phil Cannella always pushed himself and strived to be the best he could possibly be at whatever he does. So it was when Phil Cannella took it upon himself to go into the Marine Corp. In June of 1974, Phil Cannella participated in the US Marines’ Youth Physical Fitness Program and finished first overall, beating out over 400,000 competitors nationally and awarding him an athletic scholarship, sponsored by General Foods. The Brigadier General overseeing the competition noticed an extraordinary ability in 19 year old Phil Cannella, writing “you have displayed the type of self-discipline that is necessary for an individual to be successful in life. Your leadership traits will be an asset to this nation’s future and we sincerely hope that you use your leadership ability to influence others to become fine citizens of our great country. Sincerely, E.B. Meyer. Brigadier General, U.S. Marine Corps.”

Phil Cannella went on to participate in the Reserve Officers Training Corps and received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Marines Corps.
